All that Glisters? An overview of contemporary British jewellery – Mary La Trobe-Bateman

Mary is one of the UK’s foremost experts on contemporary applied arts.  A graduate of the Royal College of Art she is a former Director of CAA the leading gallery for crafts in London; before that she ran her own gallery in Somerset.  As a writer, curator and lecturer she has introduced the work of the country’s most   accomplished makers to a wider public.  She has curated many major exhibitions: recently, contemporary jewellery for The Goldsmiths Company in the City of London, and contemporary crafts for the award winning Ruthin Craft Centre in North Wales, and touring.  She is Patron of Stroud International Textile Festival.


In 2001 she was awarded an OBE for services to contemporary craft.
