Lucie Gledhill uses precious metals, deliberately choosing a low tech approach to making and favoring techniques such as Chain making – a repetitive processes that requires a sedentary making stance similar to working with textiles. Inspired by myth, Lucie has made sculptural chains, each has a mythical quality. ‘Chain of thought’ a graduated curb chain which grew so small it disappeared. Or ‘Rope Is Patient’ a continuous silver rope chain which has no beginning and no end. Alongside these sculptural chains are collections of jewellery. Through hand making chains Lucie takes traditional chain patterns and gives them a contemporary twist.
