John Ruskin, writer, artist and seer.

“The greatest thing a human soul ever does in this world is to see something, and tell what he saw in a plain way… to see clearly is poetry, prophecy, and religion – all in one.” John Ruskin’s close observations of nature inspired William Morris, the PreRaphaelites, and planted the seeds for modern views about nature and its role as teacher in art and life. This talk, illustrated with natural forms, will have a look at the world through Ruskin’s eyes and try to catch a true glimpse of the seer himself.

Linda Proud is an award-winning novelist and author of The Botticelli Trilogy. This talk is inspired by time she has spent at Brantwood, Ruskin’s home in the Lake District.
