Katherine is a glass blower and designer, she creates all her work at the studio she owns in Wiltshire with business partner James Devereux, who is also demonstrating at Art in Action. Katherine will be demonstrating the swedish overlay technique in the glass area, she uses this technique in her current work which you can see at Art in Action. Swedish overlay is the process of joining two separate bubbles of glass on separate blowpipes together and turning one inside out over the other. This process is used to bring an even layer of coloured glass onto the outside of the piece and making it accessible to sandblast or engrave through the layer once the piece has cooled down.
