Richard’s work is largely inspired by the beautiful coastal landscape surrounding his studio. He makes a wide range of functional, decorative and sculptural pieces employing many innovative construction techniques. These forms are made from locally occuring ball clays and decorated with coloured slips and reactive glazes. He has a wide knowledge of glaze chemistry and is always experimenting with new surfaces and firing methods. He will be demonstrating these innovative construction techniques using thin clay slabs.
