Around the Year - Best of the Best
?Best of the Best' is a cross-section of the entire show, presented as an exhibition. Each demonstrating artist is invited to submit what they consider to be the best single example of their work. During the event, each is then asked to vote for the piece they think is the best of the best.
In 2007, Shabir Ali Beigh from India won this accolade from his peers. The winning entry was a fine wall hanging of reversible silk embroidery on Pashmina, entitled ‘The Divine Garden’, which took him four years to complete. Equal second place went to Marjory Salles (Textiles Section) with a piece called ‘Procession of Red in Sirens’ and Julia Polonski (Drawing Section) with an abstract drawing entitled ‘Sample’.
