Award winning silversmith Jen Ricketts gained a First Class Honours Degree from De Montfort University and recently completed a silversmithing residency at Bishopsland near Reading. Jen has received bullion awards from the Goldsmiths’ Company London and recently completed a prestigious commission for the Sheffield Town Hall. Jen has perfected the silversmithing technique of hand saw piercing. She uses the finest of saw blades to hand cut her designs. Her current work concentrates on making bespoke functional silverware of intricate city skylines and intriguing silhouettes of park scenes and the countryside. Each piece is exquisitely detailed and can be tailor made to commission, featuring images of special or memorable places. Jen always begins each piece with a drawing of the skyline or scene. These drawings then form the template with which she hand cuts the design from silver, creating a unique piece of contemporary silverware. During Art in Action Jen will be demonstrating how she intricately hand cuts her work from silver sheet using her hand drawings as templates.
