Botanical Illustration with Coloured Pencils. 16+ years. £8
Session Times: Satuday – Session 3

You will be shown how to use coloured pencils to achieve effects quickly; how to colour in a leaf with undulations or shine, and how to draw realistic drops of water for petals or leaves. Teacher: Roger Reynolds – Missenden Abbey

Session Times: Friday – Session 2

Capturing the Moving Figure. 16+ years. £8
Session Times: Thursday – Session 2, Saturday – Session 1

A unique opportunity to learn how to use watercolour media when depicting the movement of the human body. Individual guidance and friendly support are offered by a popular and professional tutor. Teacher: Varvara Neiman – Missenden Abbey

 


 

Chinese Brush Painting. 12+ years. £10
Session Times: Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday 2-hour sessions: 10.30am-12.30pm; 2.30pm-4.30pm.

You will learn a little about the history and the materials used, then be introduced to some brush-strokes using ink with a composition of bamboo. Colour will then be introduced, to produce a beautiful peony flower. Teacher: Lisa Class

 


 

Cityscapes in Watercolour 16+ years. £8
Session Times: Friday – Session 3, Sunday – Session 1

During this workshop you will observe a demonstration by an experienced tutor on how to capture the fleeting moments of city life when using watercolour paint. You will be able to create your own cityscape under professional guidance and support. Teacher: Varvara Neiman – Missenden Abbey

 


 

Contemporary Still Life in Watercolour. 16+ years. £8
Session Times: Thursday – Session 3

Taking a bold approach to a painting a simple arrangement of objects, looking at methods to use watercolour in a bold and experimental way. Teacher: Jackie Devereux – Missenden Abbey

 


 

Creative Painting. 16+ years. £8
Session Times: Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday – Session 3

The session begins by experimenting with abstraction using colour composition and texture; you will conclude with a final piece to take home. Teacher: Donna Leighton or Jade Chorkularb (Friday) – The Art Academy

 


 

Drawing with a Difference. 12+ years. £8
Session Times: Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday – Session 1

In Drawing with a Difference you will explore tonal contrasts within Drawing using a reverse charcoal application technique. Teacher: Alice Clarke or Rhiannon Salisbury – The Art Academy

 


 

Figure Painting. 12+ years. £8
Session Times: Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday – Session 2

In Figure Painting you will have the opportunity to paint a figure step by step while considering colour, tone, composition and character. Teacher: David Wadham or Matt Waruszynski (Friday) – The Art Academy

 


 

Geometry – Sacred Art and Symbolic Language. 16+ years. £8
Session Times: Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday – Session 3

A practical geometry session in which a pattern will be produced, using compasses and ruler. Teacher: Tom Bree – The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts

 


 

Landscape Watercolour Painting. 13+ years. £8
Session Times: Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday Sessions 1, 2 & 3

With the marquee positioned so that we look out over the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, learn the fundamentals of painting direct from the landscape. The class is suitable for all abilities. Teacher: Valerie Petts (Sessions 1 & 2) and Lilian Shaw (Session 3)

 


 

Medieval Manuscript Decoration. 16+ years. £8

Painting a Flower of Paradise in Egg Tempera. 16+ years. £8
Session Times: Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday – Session 1

Painting a flower from the Garden of Paradise in egg tempera on gessoed paper, and a short introduction to the minerals and earths that make up traditional pigments. Suitable for beginners and artists. Teacher: Lily Corbett – The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts

 


 

Pen and Ink Wash with a Contemporary Twist. 16+ years. £8
Session Times: Sunday – Session 2

During this workshop through a variety of practical exercises, you will discover creative mark-making along with a variety of methods, using pens, sticks and brushes to apply colour and create the illusion of texture. Teacher: Jackie Devereux – Missenden Abbey
