Rachel will be demonstrating her composite forms which will be thrown and altered on the wheel; and pinched and coiled conical vessels, all with highly textured surfaces. The new series of Bark vessels (inspired by a residency in Australia) are built in sections, thrown with manipulated surfaces to reveal complex layered surfaces which display the colours and strata of the landscape. Rachel draws her inspiration from terrains as diverse as temperate Derbyshire and sun-bleached Australia. She swathes her work with various slips and glazes conveying the visual complexity of what she sees and experiences.
